A game changer in the hospitality scene

The Place in Florence, Londra Palace in Venice, and Borgo dei Conti in Umbria—three destinations, three styles, one shared vision: the mission of The Place of Wonders Foundation. This initiative is dedicated to promoting the regions these hotels call home, supporting activities that preserve local identities and tell their unique stories. Through the selection of young talents, the foundation also aims to restore value and recognition to high-quality craftsmanship—a fusion of manual skill, knowledge, and artistry that results in unique, original, and aesthetically refined creations. This Italian heritage is far from being residual or archaic; rather, it is a vital element in the connection between knowledge and craft, between profession and trade.

The Place

In Florence, The Place in Piazza Santa Maria Novella welcomes guests with the warmth of a home, blending contemporary living with echoes of the past, where harmony and elegance define the experience. In Venice, Londra Palace stands along Riva degli Schiavoni, overlooking the Grand Canal and San Giorgio Island, which can be admired from the hotel’s altana—the highest in the city. As the only Relais & Châteaux property in the Lagoon, this historic hotel, dating back to 1853, has been a favorite among intellectuals and artists. Its recent Art Nouveau-inspired restyling pays tribute to tradition, with modern interpretations of classic Venetian aesthetics, showcasing craftsmanship as a bridge between art and industry.

Borgo dei Conti, nestled in a centuries-old park near Perugia, is a country resort set in the Umbrian countryside. With ancient origins, the estate has undergone many transformations over time, culminating in its current neo-Gothic architecture reminiscent of a noble 19th-century residence. Historic references coexist with a contemporary design vision, where elegance is defined by natural colors and materials. The estate consists of two main buildings—the Villa and La Colonica—both preserving historic architectural elements while embracing a modern aesthetic.

Borgo dei Conti

These three five-star hotels, owned by the Babini family, have undergone meticulous restoration and conservation efforts, redefining spaces and styles while preserving their distinctive character. Together, they represent a refined concept of hospitality—one that fosters a deep connection with the cultural and artistic heritage of their respective regions.
