Out with the sleeping bags and gas stoves and in with the comfort. The term glamping has been invented, alluding to glamorous camping. The idea of a simple and unconventional holiday, outdoors yet with the comfort of a good, if not excellent, hotel, with the added bonus of respect for the environment. It’s the notion of sleeping in the wild, without the need to sacrifice soft sheets, a bathroom and showers. In short, glamping is like staying in a suite, but at much more affordable prices. We have selected our favourite glamp sites from north to southern Italy that allow you to truly regenerate the soul.

1

Glamping Canonici San Marco, veneto

Situated in the outskirts of Venice, the Glamping Canonici San Marco is a space to immerse oneself completely in nature. There are 6 tents immaculately designed to reflect a British countryside cottage feel through patterned fabrics and vintage objects. Here, you really feel a sense of rustic luxury; the owners are always present and you can tell there is so much love behind each and every detail. Both the breakfast room and the wine cellar have been designed with antique furnishings whereas the outdoor courtyard seems like something out of a fairytale palace – pretty candles hanging from the secular fig tree, porcelain chinaware on the tables and curtains swaying in the wind. As far as activities go, grab a book, lye on the grass and enjoy the pleasant breeze. You can also organise wine tasting in the cellar for a romantic, dimly lit experience. WEBSITE

Here, the tents are pop-ups allowing them to be dismantled when not in use so that the garden and the surrounding land can always be taken care of. Simple, cosy tents where you wake up to the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside and around you, a vegetable garden, a vineyard and olive groves. In fact, you can request an olive oil tasting right here, There is a shared ‘Casetta’ with a filly equipped kitchen, an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue for those seeking culinary independence, however for those seeking to try some local cuisine there are many restaurants nearby. As for bathrooms and showers, there are three in the shared house. As far as activities are concerned, there are many connected to what our land has to offer, from truffle hunting and hand picking and processing olives in autumn to yoga classes and massages for a slighter zen experience. Terme di Vulci,

lazio

The rooms are tents, like those you’ll find in the savannah. But here, they are set among olive trees and rosemary bushes. They are proper suites, spacious, with modern touches and XL beds, each with their own walkway and wooden veranda (some even feature an outdoor hottub). The common area, the spa and the thermal pools are separate, but close together. The Maremma countryside is the link between the parts. The food served at the restaurant is traditional, local cuisine. The SPA is inspired by the Etruscans both for the architectural style and for the available treatments based on thermal waters that flow nearby and feed three large swimming pools at increasing temperatures; these are open to the public during the day but exclusively for guests after the sunset.
