Only a few days remain until 6 February, when Livigno will step onto the international stage for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Mottolino Ski Area is ready to experience a truly historic moment. Mottolino was the first ski area in Italy to believe in freestyle skiing, and its snowpark will host the Olympic competitions in halfpipe, slopestyle and big air.
The event, however, does not bring skiing to a halt. Mottolino remains fully operational, with over 90% of its slopes open. In some cases, competing athletes and recreational skiers will share the same lifts—an experience unlike any other, allowing visitors to ski alongside the protagonists of the Games and to breathe in the Olympic atmosphere on the slopes, taking part not only as spectators.
At the end of January, the area also inaugurated the new Oakley FlowPark, a boardercross course designed for fluid riding among banked turns, rails and jumps. The project is suitable for all levels, from first-timers to more experienced riders.
Worth booking in advance are the evening dinners at Rifugio Camanel, set at 2,360 metres and reached by snowcat. Guests dine in an intimate, secluded setting, with spectacular views over Livigno, surrounded by silence and a star-filled sky.
