For your winter wonderland experience

Whether it’s the Alps in the far west, in Valle d’Aosta, or the Dolomites in the far east in Alto Adige, Italy is an unparalleled destination for ski enthusiasts, with slopes for all levels and hotels to unwind in and embrace mountain living after taking off your boots. Here are the latest openings for the 2023/24 ski season.

PS: Remember that in the summer, temperatures in Italy can rise significantly, and seeking refuge in the mountains is always a good idea for trekking, walks, climbs, and relaxation in a spa in front of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world (as declared by UNESCO?).

VRetreats Cervino, Breuil-Cervinia

Inaugurated together on December 8th, this new five-star eco-friendly resort is designed for nature lovers. Wood and large windows overlooking larch woods and the majestic Cervino, one of the most imposing mountains in the Alps. Contemporary style and linear design characterize the sixty-six rooms, ten suites, and the spa with two pools and a gym. The hotel is located in the Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Zermatt ski area, with over 360 km of slopes, one of the largest developed across three valleys between Italy and Switzerland. What makes it especially interesting are the variety of slopes, from easy to more challenging, including cross-country skiing. Additionally, you can ski all year round (even in summer) on the Plateau Rosà. The new Matterhorn Glacier Ride II, inaugurated in July 2023, is the highest and most innovative transalpine connection, allowing everyone, not just skiers, to experience the high mountains: reaching up to 3,500 meters with a stop at Piccolo Cervino, where you can admire 38 peaks above 4,000 meters. Montana Lodge & Spa: Located at the foot of the majestic Monte Rutor, it has fifty-five modern rooms with contemporary interiors in a typical regional structure. Here too, there are two restaurants with Italian-inspired mountain cuisine, a cellar with 300 labels, and a spa and gym equipped with Technogym. WEBSITE

Adler Historic Guesthouse

Inaugurated last June, this hotel by Christoph Mayr and Silvana Messner is born from the renovation of a 16th-century building in the center of Bressanone, the new lifestyle destination in the Dolomites, amidst not-too-crowded high mountains and slopes descending through silent woods. The project involved the recovery and expansion of the historic part, respecting the style of the structure and the village. The result is forty-three rooms, some of which overlook the river, a spa, a meeting place for coffee, aperitifs, and moments of relaxation during the day. But the most spectacular point is the rooftop pool between the bell towers of the Cathedral and a panoramic view all around. From the same property, there is also the historic restaurant Finsterwirt-Oste Scuro and the enoteca Vinothek Vitis, both in the historic center, a two-minute walk from the hotel. WEBSITE
