ARIA Retreat & Spa has now opened its doors at Cima di Porlezza on Lugano Lake on the boarders between Italy and Switzerland. A new architectural project with a low environmental impact that is beautifully integrated with the surrounding territory and the lake.
The hotel is curated by the Milan architecture studio, R4M Engineering, which developed the concept across three floors: the ground floor houses a heated indoor pool with a relaxation area closed within large glass windows offering a beautiful lake view. Here, through a “passage” in the water, you can reach the heated and salt-water outdoor infinity pool.
On the first floor you will find the SPA CEÒ, the wellness area deeply engrained with the four natural elements of water, air, fire and earth. There are saunas that overlook the Siusi alps, Turkish bath, outdoor jacuzzi and treatment rooms. On the same floor, you’ll find La Dolce Vita Lounge Bar with an outdoor, lake view terrace. An all-day dining concept that serves small bites, aperitivo or after dinner cocktails.
Finally, the top floor is home to the suites (Loggia Suite, Grand Loggia Suite and Penthouse Suite whereas the rest of the rooms (15 in total) are located in the garden. All the rooms and suites are designed in a contemporary, refined guise with exceptional views over the lake (and balconies where you can enjoy reading a book and drinking a cup of tea).
With regards to the cuisine, La Musa Restaurant & Rooftop terrace is guided by Chef Michele Pili, set within the splendid backdrop of the lake. The proposed menu is a combination of the Chef’s background, spanning from Sardinia to the Lepontine Alps with elements gained throughout his travels. Expect few, simple, high quality ingredients but strong, decisive flavours.
