The three-Michelin-star chef's vision meets the legacy of La Serenissima

Chef Heinz Beck, the three-Michelin-star chef behind La Pergola in Rome, has been chosen to lead the culinary offering at the new Orient Express Venice hotel, set to open on 1st of April this spring. Beck will oversee all of the dining concepts — from the fine-dining restaurant to the more informal spaces — with a cuisine inspired by the Venetian lagoon and the wider Mediterranean.

The hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, with just 20 seats, is housed in the historic Orangerie, redesigned by architect and designer Aline Asmar d’Amman, who has been leading the restoration of the palace since 2018. At La Casati, the menu presents a more relaxed interpretation of Venetian cuisine, with traditional recipes and seasonal ingredients. The interiors pay tribute to the eccentric marchioness Luisa Casati, while in the warmer months guests can dine outdoors in the garden.

The Wagon Bar, inspired by the carriages of the Orient Express, evokes the golden age of travel, serving classic cocktails and small plates late into the evening. Finally, the Salone Vittoria, once the ballroom of the Venetian nobility, hosts breakfasts, gala dinners and special events beneath magnificent 18th-century chandeliers.
